Zakat Deposit Fund

Poverty is due to the failure of Islamic brotherhood and social responsibilities. According to the brotherhood concept in Islam, Muslims are strongly encouraged to look after the poor in their community. Thus, in 9AH, the obligation to pay zakat on wealth was received by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). History proves that zakat is an effective tool to alleviate poverty as during the period of Umar bin Al Khattab and Umar bin Abdul Aziz poverty is completely eliminated.

However, with the fall of Islamic Empire and the increasing European influence during the colonialism period, Zakat Institutions have lost their glory. Therefore, the objective of Sarokar’s zakat fund is to provide a conceptual role of zakat in alleviating poverty.

Therefore, Sarokar Saving & Credit Co-operative Society Limited Harinagar Rural Municipality Sunsari established a fund in the name of Zakat Deposit Fund to conduct a centralized, digitalized and systemized way of zakat distribution in Harinagar first and then in Nepal.

Zakat amount is generally collected by the collective agents or human resources and have to pay their salaries and incentives where approximately 50 percent of total collected amount is spent. So, only 50 percent amount is reached to the madrasa and deserving people. So, it needs a centralized and digital system to collect and distribute zakat amount from the Muslims and to the Muslims and deserving citizens around the community and nations.

Individuals and corporate institutes that can enjoy zakat amount will receive their part after the application and demands approved by the sharia advisory body of Sarokar Saving & Credit Co-operative Society Limited Harinagar Sunsari because Sharia advisory body is the supreme to distribute Zakat, Sadaqa, Khairaat, Sadaqatul fitra and other types of donations.
